Meet Our Staff Members

Our ministers believe every man, woman, and child is strategically predestined to fulfill the purpose and covenant work of God through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Therefore, it is their responsibility to aid in the discovery and execution of an individual’s gifts and fruits, as God expects nothing less than a one hundred percent return on the vested interest He has in each of us.

Reverend Rosalind K. Shorter Henderson

Senior Pastor

Pastor Rosalind K. Shorter Henderson is a native of Chicago Heights, Illinois. She is the oldest child of Reverend Dr. Constance A. Shorter and the late William Shorter.  A born again, Holy Ghost filled Christian, Pastor Henderson loves the Lord and wants to be used by Him to magnify His name. She is an anointed preacher, gifted teacher, and workshop facilitator.

Assigned to the pastorate of Miller Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church in University Park, Illinois, she served there for six blessed years. Subsequently, God shone His amazing light and favor upon her by having her receive the distinction in October 2014 of becoming the first woman pastor of Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Evanston, Illinois.  Pastor Henderson had the blessed privilege of serving as Secretary of the African Methodist Episcopal Chicago Conference for nine years.  A prolific leader, in 2015, Pastor Henderson spearheaded the assembly of the Black Methodist Ministerial Alliance of the North Shore.  In 2019, Pastor Henderson was led by God to organize a Women’s Pastoral Alliance called “Women of Worth of the North Shore”.  In 2022, Pastor Henderson was appointed Chaplain of the Evanston Own It organization, a Non-profit Christian organization whose focus is on community and youth.  During her time with the organization, Evanston Own It has given over $50,000 to various Youth Programs in Evanston.  Given her mantra of “going beyond the four walls of the church edifice”, Pastor Henderson has been instrumental in launching and driving community programs such as an Annual Community Day/Health Fair/Back-to-School Jam, a “Gift of Warmth” Coat Drive, a Weekly Breakfast Feeding Program for the Homeless, Feeding individuals through God’s Word and Cooked Food residing at Tent City, Distribution of Christmas and Thanksgiving Food Baskets, Christmas Toy Donations to students of Illinois School District 65, Adoption of two families for Christmas, and a partnership with the Evanston Library to administer computer classes for community residents.

Serving as that beacon to illuminate Pastor Henderson’s ministerial steps is the Scripture, “For We Walk By Faith, Not By Sight,”  II Corinthians 5:7, for she believes that her Christian journey is truly a faith walk. Being a prayer warrior, she recognizes and earnestly believes that the prayers of the righteous availeth much.  Since 2009, Pastor Henderson annually leads groups of believers in a 40-day prayer crusade during Lent. It is her sincere desire to help others recognize and realize the God-given talent they have; and to encourage them to liberally use their gifts to further God’s Kingdom here on earth. Needless to say, Pastor Henderson yields to the Holy Spirit always; in order to lead God’s people into a supernatural move of God.

Pastor Henderson is a graduate of the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana where she earned a B.S. degree in Math and Computer Science. She has gone on to further her educational pursuits by attaining a M.S. degree in Telecommunications from DePaul University, and a Master of Divinity from Northern Theological Seminary.  Pastor Henderson is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., Delta Chi Omega Chapter.

God has blessed Pastor Henderson to have a wonderful husband, Michael Henderson, who is anointed to serve God with all his heart and soul. Their union has produced two lovely sons Michael Alexander Henderson and Jordan Wesley Henderson.
